Donald L. Bland Sr., 81, of Belvidere, IL, passed away, Saturday, March 25, 2017 in his home with his wife by his side. He was born December 28, 1935 in Crown Hill, WV, son of Clifford and Aletha Bland. Donald married the love of his life Barbara Whitney on September 21, 1974 in Belvidere, IL. Donald proudly served his country with the United States Army. Donald would serve on the Belvidere Fire Department for 21 years, 6 of which he served as Fire Chief. Later in life he would spend 21 years working as an Illinois State Fire Marshall. He was passionate about his best friend and dog Eddie, gardening, listening and playing blue grass music, hunting and fishing.



He is loved and will be missed by his wife, Barbara; children Katherine (Michael) Kirane, Kenneth (Julie) Zentner, Donald (Dana) Bland Jr.; sister, Sally Farley; special family friend, Nino Garza; grandchildren Kenny, Emily, Amberlie Zentner, JD, Jackson Kirane, Brooke, Brittney, Brennon Bland.



Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL with Deacon Armando Regalado officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2017 at the funeral home Burial in Highland Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers memorials, may be given In care of the family.
