Donald E. Adams, 71, of Caledonia, IL passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening, November 19, 2014 in Swedish American Hospital after a short illness.  Donald was born September 26, 1943 in Beloit, Wisconsin the son of George W. and Pauline (Dolphin) Adams.  He married Joan Marie Austin on October 3, 1964 in Poplar Grove, IL; she preceded him in death on January 25, 2007.  Over the years, Donald worked for Barber-Colman for 23 years where he was a foreman; he then worked an additional 19 years for Dean Foods before his retirement.  Donald was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany during the Viet-Nam era.  He was a member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, Capron Grange and a former member of the Moose Lodge in Harvard.  Donald was an avid collector of hats, guns and collecting photos of his friends.  He enjoyed trap shooting and target shooting, farming, camping and fishing with his daughter and granddaughters.  Donald enjoyed tinkering in the basement as well as collecting John Wayne memorabilia.  He was also a member of the Monroe Prairie ATV Club and enjoyed riding ATV's.

Donald is loved and will be missed by his children, Daniel (Sandra) Adams of Caledonia, Paulette (Fiancé Brian Polin)  Mendoza of Belvidere; grandchildren, Monica and Alexis Mendoza, Matthew, Tyler, Ashley and Jasmine Polin; brother, Floyd (Mary) Adams of Murfreesboro, TN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; significant other, Julie Kleive of Capron.  Donald is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, 105 E. Grove St., Poplar Grove, IL with Rev. Christopher Druce Jones officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church.  Cremation to follow the services.  Memorials can be given in care of the National Rifle Association, American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in Donald's memory.  To light a candle or to share a memory, please visit www.AndersonFCS.com
