Obituary

Dixie L. Timmerman, 75, of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away peacefully on August 3rd, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born in Austin, MN on February 22nd, 1948 to Elmer and Gloria Siewert. After graduating from Adams High School in 1966, she found herself in a number of careers, including waitressing and working at the US Post Office, before realizing her passion was comforting those in need. She spent her life leading with love and compassion in any way she could, even unconventionally, as a clown, showing up when people needed a smile the most. She went on to pursue a vibrant career in nursing, working at St. Josephs Hospital and In-home care, where she would gain life-long friends. On July 30th, 1966, she married the love of her life, Ronald Heinz Timmerman, in Elkton, MN, they would go on to have three children, Michael, Michele, and Scott.

Dixie was a woman of many hats. She was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but she also had an enormous heart, and was hilarious. She could make friends with anyone who crossed her path. Her hobbies included baking, sewing, shopping, camping, and storytelling. She was artistic and outgoing, and always starting a new creative project. She made everything from crib sheets and bibs to backpacks and intricate quilts. She baked cakes and cookies that won blue ribbons at her local fairs. She told stories with such passion that the listener could close their eyes and be right there with her. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and considered their friends her grandkids too. She would never say no to a lunch or dinner date, which was really just a great excuse to catch up and be present for those she loved. If she wasn't creating, she was organizing. She had a knack for rallying the community together to help those in need. The way she was able to pull together benefit fundraisers when she saw someone hurting is unrivaled. The community of loved ones she helped to cultivate extends across miles, and will live on as one of her greatest legacies.

Dixie is predeceased by her husband, Ronald H. Timmerman; son, Michael Timmerman; parents, Elmer and Gloria Siewert; brother, David Bublitz; and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her daughter, Michele (James) Pearson; son, Scott Timmerman; grandchildren, Ashlea (Jaskamaldeep) Dosanjh, Emilee (Michelle) Irvin, Taylor (Dan) Kitchen, and Evan Timmerman; great-granddaughters, Lexy and Zoey Sherman and Ronnie Sebastian Dosanjh; brothers, Darrel (VeNila) Bublitz, Dale (Kathy) Bublitz; and sister, Diane (Harvey) Hemann; sister-in-law, Judy Barksdale. Dixie is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she cherished deeply.
