Dick C. Barr, 85, of Belvidere, Illinois died Early Sunday morning, May 14, 2006 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Dick was born August 4, 1920 in Belvidere the son of Irven and Phyllis (Hendricksen) Barr. After graduating from Belvidere High School, He served our country in the US Army during World War II as a machine gunner and cannonier in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Dick married Marie E. Youngman on October 30, 1948 in Sycamore. He worked for the National Sewing Machine Co. in Belvidere until it closed and 32 years for Arnold Engineering in Marengo, retiring in 1985. Dick was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, reading and was an avid Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bear's fan.Survivors include his wife, Marie, Belvidere; daughter, Judith Anderson of Belvidere; sister, Betty (Donald) Smith of Belvidere; grandchildren, Todd Sanders, Heather Sanders, Ashley Anderson, Austin Anderson all of Belvidere; great grandchildren, Tjaden Sanders, Jaszmin Sanders; niece, Linda Mitchell; nephews, Kurt Smith and Stuart Smith; sister in-law, Elaine Sailor of Sycamore. Dick is predeceased by his parents, infant sister; son in-laws, David Sanders, Michael Anderson; brother in-law George Sailor.
