Diane L. Oehler, 74, of Belvidere, Illinois passed away on Thursday April 22, 2021 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. She was born March 31, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois daughter of Melvin and Mary Jane (Garrison) Dworniczek. She graduated from Lake View High School on the north side of Chicago where she grew up. Diane met her husband-to-be, Norman Oehler, on November 1, 1963 at a Halloween Party. While he was deployed with the Army, she planned their wedding. The pair was wed on November 5, 1966 in Chicago. They were blessed with almost 55 years of marriage and shared a wonderful life together.
Diane worked for the U-46 school district as a lunch lady, retiring from Ridge Circle Elementary School in Streamwood, Illinois. She worked her way up the chain of command over time and was soon making the orders.
Diane was also proud to work with Daughters of the Nile, a nonprofit corporation whose contributions benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children. She was passionate about children receiving necessary care and treatment regardless of their situation. Diane and Norman had two children of their own, but her love for children had no bounds. She absolutely adored cardinals. In her spare time she did some sewing and needle work. More than anything, Diane loved sharing her time with family. She could be a stubborn woman and always put others before herself. She naturally had a strong desire to help people.
Diane will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband Norman; their children Nancy (Craig) Kasulis and Michael (Becky) Oehler; grandchildren Andrea and Daniel Kasulis and Logan Oehler; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both parents and brother Wayne Dworniczek.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the thoughtful staff at Swedish American Hospital CCU for their attentive and loving care of Diane.
A walk-through visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services. 218 West Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, Illinois 61008.
