Derk J. Gerritsen of Poplar Grove passed away suddenly, Friday, March 3,2017. Derk was born April 26, 1958 in Huizen, Netherlands, son of Johannes and Celie Gerritsen. He worked for Barrington Transportation Company as a mechanic. Derk was a gear head, loving anything to do with cars and loved his dogs Morgan and Murphy.

He is loved and will be missed by his parents, Johannes and Celie; daughters, Michelle Gerritsen, Stephanie (Shawn) O'Connell; grandchildren Cassandra Reed Breanna Reed; brothers, John Gerritsen, Paul Gerritsen; sister Jennifer Gerritsen; ex-wife, Sherrie Gerritsen.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 12:30 pm at Lou Malnati's Pizzeria, 8515 Redtail Dr, Village of Lakewood, IL 60014. Cremation rites have been accorded.
