Dennis W. Harnish, lifelong resident of Caledonia, IL departed this life at age 75 on May 18, 2023. Born September 26, 1947, the son of Harlan and Iris (Hopp) Harnish. Dennis graduated from North Boone High School and attended Rock Valley College before enlisting in the United States Army, 1968-1970, Vietnam Veteran. While serving, Dennis received a Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster for his heroism and bravery during armed conflict. A Bronze Star Medal is the fourth highest-ranking award that a service member can receive in the U.S. Military. In 1972, Dennis married the love of his life, Susan A. Snuggs. Dennis was employed by the State of IL- IDOT-Belvidere for 28 years. After retirement, Dennis took up his hobby of tractor pulling with son Craig, Black Smoke Pulling Team. Survived by wife, Susan; Son, Craig Harnish; Daughter, Jamie Harnish; Granddaughter, MacKenzie Powers; Dogs, Bently and Dieks; Sisters, Lois Patmythes (son's Jeff and Greg Patmythes) and Cindy (Rick) Hecker. Predeceased by parents and niece.

In lieu of funeral, there will be a Celebration of Life Pig Roast on June 17, 2023 at the Harnish Homestead, 13658 Beloit Rd., Caledonia starting at 3 pm.
