Dennis Joseph Balk, 65, of Poplar Grove, IL passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Memorial visitation will be from 3pm to 4:30pm on Saturday, February 22nd at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL. Memorial service to follow at 4:30pm.

He was born February 4, 1960, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of James and Lee Ann (Vogt) Balk. He married the love of his life Theresa Balk on September 13, 1986. Dennis spent many years as the owner of Balk Services, and most recently worked at the Stellantis Chrysler Plant in Belvidere,IL. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with his wife, attending concerts, and watching sports. Dennis had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His strong work ethic and legacy will live on through his children and grandchild.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Theresa; three children: Matthew (Morgan) Balk, Rachel Balk, and Abigail Balk; one grandchild: Forrest Balk; four brothers Steve (Rhonda) Balk, Kevin (Jackie) Balk, Terry (Jenny) Balk, and Brian (Jean) Balk; one sister Wendy (David) Melver; brother-in-laws Steve Althoff and Mike (Kathy) Althoff; many loving nieces and nephews; and fur grandchildren Wrigley, Rizzo, Boots, Ellie, Hazelnut, Ember, and Greta.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law Charles Althoff; and mother-in-law Geraldine Althoff.

Dennis's family would like to extend a special thank you to his care team at SwedishAmerican Hospital for their loving, compassionate, and professional care. In true Dennis fashion, acceptable visitation attire includes shorts and a "customized" cut off t-shirt.
