Obituary

Debra Ann Clark, 64, passed away January 13, 2025. She was born on December 15, 1960 in Belvidere, IL. The daughter of Sharon (VanFleet) and Roger Clark. Debra was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Debra grew up in Kansas and graduated from Atwood High School. She later attended Brown Mackie College in Salina. Over the years, Debra worked in various roles, with a special focus on the medical field as a medical registrar in both Rockford, Illinois, and Manhattan, Kansas. She also worked at the Clocktower Resort in Rockford for many years, where she formed many close friendships and memories.

Throughout her life, Debra was known for her warm, inviting personality and infectious laugh that could light up any room. She had a way of making everyone feel like they were part of the family. Debra was a rock for her loved ones, always offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or just a comforting presence when it was needed most. She was the kind of person you could count on, and her unwavering support was a blessing to her children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends alike.

A passionate genealogist, Debra enjoyed researching her family's history and discovering connections to the past. It was a hobby that brought her great joy and pride. Debra also had a special bond with her cat, Bootsie, who was her constant companion. She found peace in the simple things – whether it was enjoying a quiet evening at home or sharing a good laugh with friends.

Debra will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, warmth, and laughter will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her children, Joseph (Ren) Knitter, Crystal (Aaron) Barnes; grandchildren, Brooke and Dalton Barnes, and Lillian Knitter; brothers, Greg Clark and James (Victoria) Clark; nephews, Phillip, Andrew, and Wyatt Clark; nieces, Tess Peck and Brande Hatcher, as well as numerous extended family and friends whom she loved dearly.

She is welcomed into heaven by her parents, Roger and Sharon Clark, and nephew Ian Clark.
