David M. Minakes, 72, of Rockford, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in his home following a sudden illness. He was born on March 4, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio; the son of Matthew and Jeanne (Curtis) Minakes. David graduated from Boys Town. He married Wendy Montgomery in Woodstock, Illinois on December 29, 1998. David was employed as a Truck Driver for Floit Ready Mix Co. Marengo. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict stationed in Germany. David was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, the Teamsters and Belvidere American Legion Boone Post 77. He is survived by his wife, Wendy, of Rockford; daughter, Lisa (Brian) Gallano; Rockford; three grandchildren, Shayna Korst, Brody and Olivia Gallano; brother, Matthew (Sherryl) Minakes, McLean, Arizona; sister Elaine (Al) Goolsby, Jupiter, Florida; faithful companion, his dog, Joey. David was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George and James.
