Darlene Henninger 91, of Belvidere, Il went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, peacefully on Tuesday morning, December 15, 2020. Darlene was born July 15, 1929 In Belvidere, Il the daughter of Walter and Idora (Green) Hopp. She married Alvin Henninger on November 19, 1948 and celebrated 72 years of marriage. From this union two sons would be born, John and Scott. Darlene worked 24 years for Belvidere Bank, but her greatest joy was working side by side to her husband Al, in the insurance and auction business for 72 years. She made her spiritual home at Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a life member. The grange was a large part of Darlene's life. She was a 75-year member of Prairie Grange as well as being a member of Big Thunder Grange. She was a former leader of the Junior Granges for the Prairie and Big Thunder Grange and earned many awards at the national level. On the state level, Darlene held the offices of Lady Asst Steward for eight years, Chaplain for 6 years and was a Host First Lady to the National Grange at Peoria, IL in 1994; as well as being on a National Committee for 7 years. For 22 years, Darlene served as the Superintendent of Concessions for the Boone County Fair. Al and Darlene received the Friends of County Fairs Award at the Springfield Fair in 2012; Darlene earning the same award again in 2013. In 2009, both Al and Darlene received the "To Some One Special Award" (Angel unaware) for their years of supporting the 4-H Boys and Girls.
Darlene is loved and will be missed by her husband, Al; son John (Pat) Henninger; daughter, in-law Pam Henninger; grandchildren, Clint (Teri), Shawn (Lisa), Brad (Stephanie), Bridget (Jason); eight Great-grandchildren and 2 Great-Great- grandchildren. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Scott, and sister Iris (Harlan) Harnish.
The walk through visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 19, 2020 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL. The Funeral ceremony will be at 11:00a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Dan Lashley officiating. Burial will be private for the family at Lawrenceville Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing will be observed. Memorials in Darlene's name can be made to Prairie Grange, Boone County Fair or Calvary Baptist Church.
