Darlene Carlson, 78, of Belvidere, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. She was born on July 19, 1947, to Lorene (Foster) and Daniel "Ross" Farel.

Darlene was a loving mother, proud grandmother, and adoring great-grandmother. Everything she did was for the people she loved. She worked faithfully to make sure her family was cared for, giving over 20 years to GTE Manufacturing and 26 years serving the Belvidere community as a local meter reader. She treasured the friendships she made along the way and truly loved seeing familiar faces around town.

Committed and consistent in all she did, Darlene was a woman of strong faith who cared deeply for her family and loved ones. After her working years, her happiest days were spent babysitting her grandchildren.

Darlene had a special love for baking. She made wonderful homemade bread and a famously delicious rhubarb pie. Her favorite time of day was the quiet of the morning, spent on her front porch with a cup of coffee, often greeting neighbors and friends as they passed by.

Darlene never knew a stranger; her kindness, warmth, and welcoming spirit drew people to her and turned acquaintances into lifelong friends. She enjoyed the spring season and the beauty of her flower garden. Darlene was known to have a sweet tooth and could never turn down a milky way candy bar.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Darlene is survived by her Daughter Tami (Jerry) Keefauver; grandchildren, Jory (Maddie) Keefauver, Zoey Keefauver; great-grandson, Luke, brother, Gene (Louise) Farel, as well as bonus family, Dawn, Erik and Madison Lutzow. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Charlie and Gizmo, and numerous extended family members and friends she loved dearly.

She is welcomed into heaven by her parents, Lorene and Daniel "Ross" Farel and special friend and dear companion, Denny Peaslee.

Darlene's visitation will be Thursday, February 26, at 10am at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral Service to follow at 11:30 am. Burial will be at Belvidere Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Darlene can be made to a local animal shelter.
