Obituary

Daniel Allen Neubert, 74, of Byron, Illinois, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Daniel was a funny, lighthearted man who loved his family deeply.

He was born to June (Whitfield) and Wayne Neubert on September 20, 1952, in New Prague, Minnesota. His family moved to Belvidere, Illinois when he was a boy. He graduated from Belvidere High School in 1970. Shortly after graduation, he began working as a mechanic and machinist at Warner-Lambert, eventually retiring after a rewarding 30-year career.

Known for his sense of humor and playful personality, he always made those he loved laugh, creating beautiful memories for his family. Dan married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Linda Lou Lee, on January 8, 1972. They welcomed their first daughter in 1974, and together, they raised 7 children. Opening their hearts and home, they fostered over 40 children. Daniel treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, and those moments were among the most meaningful parts of his life.

Daniel is survived by his children; Heather Johnson, Andrea Neubert, Melissa Neubert, Autumn (Joanne Olson) Neubert, Daniel (Tracy Janssen) Neubert, and Richard Neubert; his grandchildren, Robin (Max) Johnson Sparks, Christina Johnson, Lincoln Neubert, Sloane Neubert, and Maddison Neubert; and his siblings, Janis Neubert and Steven Neubert. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members whom he loved dearly. He is welcomed into Heaven by his beloved wife, Linda; his son, Keinen; 6 angel babies, his parents, June and Wayne Neubert; and his brothers, Gary, Ken, and Randy.

Daniel loved being outdoors and was a true handyman. He was a Mopar enthusiast who enjoyed collecting and restoring cars, as well as fixing machinery. In his younger years, Daniel enjoyed lifting weights competitively. When not enjoying nature, Daniel was a diehard Chicago Bears fan. He especially enjoyed watching the Bears beat the Packers. He often would spend time reading to his children, playing games and entertaining them with his stories. His imagination and sense of humor gave his children many lasting memories. Daniel found happiness in life’s everyday moments, never missing an opportunity to tell a joke and making someone smile.

Daniel will be deeply missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him. A graveside service for Daniel will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 12pm., at Belvidere Cemetery, located at 1121 N Main St., Belvidere, IL. A celebration of life will directly follow.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations to be made in Daniel’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
