Tempe,AZDan McCoy, 62, of Tempe, AZ, passed away on May 5, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dan was born on December 23, 1949, to Clifton and Dorothy McCoy of Belvidere, IL. He grew up on a farm and graduated valedictorian from Belvidere High School. He attended Judson College in Elgin, IL graduating Magna Cum Laude. He then went to seminary at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, MN graduating with a Masters in Divinity. After graduation, he was called to Colorado Springs Baptist Church as an associate pastor.After hearing a call to minister to International Students, he moved to Tempe, AZ to join ISI at Arizona State University, where the students became his life work. It was at this position that he found his true calling. He loved working with the students and found great success there. Dan enjoyed traveling to many countries to visit former students and furthering the gospel wherever he went. He loved to travel, and felt blessed to be able to combine this interest with his passion for developing relationships and sharing the gospel with students from around the world.Dan is survived by his mother, Dorothy McCoy, brothers Steve (Cher) McCoy and Greg (Betty) McCoy, sister Kathy (Chuck) Bachelder, and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, all of whom loved Uncle Dan. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton McCoy, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
