Daniel Robert Matheson, 58, of Delavan, WI, formerly of Belvidere, died Sunday, June 24th, in Mercy Walworth Hospital, Lake Geneva, following a lengthy illness. Dan was born October 11, 1948, in Belvidere, son of Lawrence S. and Celestia A. Fitch Matheson. A U.S. Army veteran, Dan served two tours in Viet Nam and earned his associate's degree from Rock Valley College. As a veteran, Dan was active in the Rock Valley Veterans Club. He moved to Delavan in 1984, and was a sales representative for Blackhawk Hobby & Distributing Co., Rockford. He married Marilyn J. Weber in Rockford March 30, 1974. Dan was a member of County Line Grange and former Packmaster of Cub Scout Pack #372, Darien, WI. Dan was a Napoleonic era history buff, enjoyed Civil War re-enactments, and giving living history talks to schools. He also enjoyed attending toy and hobbyist conventions. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; son Daniel Sean (Samantha) Matheson, Madison, WI; granddaughter, Persephone Matheson, Madison, WI; sisters Jacqueline D. Murry, Loves Park, and Jo Ellen (Ken) Coleman, Belvidere; brothers David (Carol) Matheson, Springfield, IL, and Duane (June) Matheson, North Palm Beach, FL.
