Daniel A.
Johnson
Mar 21, 1954 — Mar 2, 2014
Daniel A. Johnson, 59, of Belvidere, IL died Sunday morning, March 2, 2014 near Nauvoo, IL in an automobile accident. Dan was born March 21, 1954 in Rockford, IL the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley A. Johnson and Patricia Williams. He married Bonnie J. Johnson in Beloit, Wisconsin on June 23, 1990. Dan attended North Boone High School, Rock Valley College, Augustana College, and Northwestern University, receiving a B.S. in Civil Engineering from University of Wisconsin–Madison. He was employed with Carpenter's Local 792 as a journeyman carpenter.
Dan was a brilliant craftsman, musician, academic, and outdoorsman, with an appreciation for nature, beauty, philosophy, and a hard day's work. When not engaged in lively conversation or sitting quietly with his thoughts, he was a carefree, charismatic, and immeasurably lovable man. Dan was a demanding individual, of others and especially himself, but his strong personality complemented his spirited nature. Each emotion was genuine, each complement or criticism honest, and a laugh or smile was a reward. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Dan is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughters, Danielle and Lauren; stepdaughter, Jeanette (Harvey) Nalan; parents, Stan and Marilyn Johnson; mother, Patricia Williams; sisters, Karen (Thad) Prevett, Julie (Alan) Ackerman; brother, David Johnson; nieces and nephews; sisters in-law, Pat (David) Thompson, Mary (Jack) Amato, Rose (John) Dionysious; as well as step grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2104 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services; Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL.
