Dagny Sylvia Person Olson, 83, longtime resident of Belvidere, died Wednesday morning, March 25, 2009 in Easton, MD with her daughter Maggie at her side. Born April 24, 1925, the daughter of Philip and Hannah Person. Dagny graduated from Belvidere high School in 1942 and from Augustana College, Rock Island in 1947. Dagny married Stanton R. Olson on August 25, 1951 in Chicago. She continued to live in Belvidere until 2001 when she was preceded in death by her beloved "Surro". She resided at the William Hill Manor, Easton, MD since 2002, near her daughter Maggie Olson Buss.Dagny was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Belvidere, as well as the organist from the age of 14. She was also organist at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home. Dagny was an active member of the American Guild of Organist; Women of the ELCA; many of the committees at Zion, especially Worship and Music, the Scholarship/Endowment Fund and Bread for the World. She loved her family, her church, her music, her friends and her God. We loved her and will especially miss her laughter.Dagny is survived by her daughters, Miriam (Kiyo) Nakayama of Thousand Oaks, CA and Margaret Olson (Robert) Buss of Oxford, MD; granddaughters, Katie Nakayama of Rhodes University, South Africa and Anna Nakayama of CalPoly, San Luis Obispo.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be given in care of the organ restoration fund of Zion Lutheran Church.
