Cynthia Hope Schmidt, 68, peacefully ended her battle with pancreatic cancer on May 8, 2023 with her husband and soulmate of 52 years, Gary, and her son, Bruno, at her side. Cynthia was born in Rockford, IL on January 20, 1955 to Norma and Richard Olson. She spent her early years in Loves Park before moving to Belvidere in 1968, where she graduated from Belvidere High School in 1973. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Schmidt, on June 16, 1973. Cynthia became a letter carrier for the Belvidere Post Office in 1976 and carried for 18 years. She developed a love for real estate, and after leaving the post office, she became an avid real estate investor and author/presenter of real estate topics. She was predeceased by her mother, Norma Anderson; her stepfather, Walter Anderson; and brother, Christopher Anderson. Her stepfather, Walt, was the caretaker for the Belvidere Park, and Cindy enjoyed residing right in the park in her youth.

Cindy along with her husband enjoyed RV life, and they visited many places in their travels. The enjoyed exploring new places and lived in Wisconsin, Florida, New Mexico and finally resided in Sedona, Arizona. Cindy was an out-going person who enjoyed life and its challenges, and she will be dearly missed by all of those who loved her. She is survived by her husband, Gary of Sedona, AZ; her son, Bruno (Maria) Schmidt of Copenhagen, Denmark; two grandchildren (Elliot and Mikala); her brother, Wally Anderson of Loves Park; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 20 ^th at Anderson Funeral Home ( 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL ). There will be a visitation at 11:00 AM and memorial service at 12:00 PM , which will be followed by fellowship and refreshments at the Community Building. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her honor.
