Obituary

Constance "Connie" Harrison, 84, of Winnebago, formerly of Belvidere, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2024. She was born on April 27, 1940, in Philo, IL, the daughter of Frank Silver and Mabel (Hartz) Silver.

Connie's life was marked by love, devotion, and a commitment to her family, community, and faith. On February 28, 1965, she married the love of her life, Donald Harrison. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage, and their bond was an enduring example of love and partnership. In 1970, they adopted their only daughter, Jennifer. They were deeply dedicated parents, grandparents, and great grandparents.

Connie was a lifelong learner with a passion for knowledge. She graduated from Unity High School in Tolono, IL, and furthered her education at the University of Illinois. She earned her master's degree in Library Science from Northern Illinois University and went on to serve her community as the Director of the Belvidere Library for many years. Connie also worked as a substitute teacher in local schools.

She was an avid fan of crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and was a talented seamstress. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family. She carefully scheduled her calendar, to be present to support her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's school and sporting events.

Connie was also an active participant in her community, serving as a 4-H leader and as a judge at the Boone County Fair, where she appreciated the local talents in arts, crafts, and food competitions.

A woman of deep faith, Connie was a longtime member of Maywood Church and a devoted member of the Gideons Auxiliary. She found joy in the beauty of nature, often enjoying bike rides and camping trips with Don. Connie and Don treasured their time together, particularly during their retirement, when they spent their winters in Florida.

Connie's legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for learning will live on through her family, friends, and the many lives she touched over the years.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer and Son-in-law, Mike Hutson; grandchildren, Shayleigh (Craig) Nelson, Sierra Adams, Tanner (Isabelle) Bussan; Great-Grandchildren, Mia, Ava and Sophia Nelson and, Eli Bussan; sister-in-law, Beverly (Tom) Frey; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

She is welcomed into heaven by her husband Donald; her parents, Frank and Mabel Silver; brothers, Frank (Doris) Silver, Robert (Roberta) Silver, Donald Silver, Walter (Mary) Silver; sister, Carolyn Silver, and dear friends, Way, Amy, Larry, and Marlene.

Connie's memorial service will be Saturday, December 28th at 11am at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. A visitation will be at 10am until time of service. Burial at Belvidere Cemetery.
