Clifton L. McCoy, age 83, of Belvidere, Illinois died Sunday, February 27, 2005 in Maple Crest Nursing Home after a lingering illness. Cliff was born January 24, 1922 at home in rural Capron, Illinois. He was the son of Ira and Ruth (Kjell) McCoy. Cliff married Dorothy Olds on December 29, 1945 in Rockford at the State Street Methodist Church. Cliff farmed all his life, until retiring in December 1995. Cliff served our country in the U.S. Army during 1945 in Japan, in the Counter Intelligence Division attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of First Baptist Church serving as a Deacon, Trustee and other leadership responsibilities, County Line Grange, Boone County Fair Board Director, member of the Boone County Board for 9 years, member of the Boone County Farm Bureau, volunteer Fire Fighter for many years, part time bus driver, volunteer at the Keenage Center and was a past member of the Bright Horizons Rotary Club.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; sons Steven (Cher) McCoy, Daniel McCoy, Greg (Betty) McCoy; daughter, Kathleen (Charles) Bachelder; grandchildren' Paul Coil, Connie McCoy, Erin LaPinta, Jordan LaPinta, Kelsey LaPinta, Ryan McCoy, Rebekah McCoy, Bethany McCoy; step grandchildren' Tina Bachelder, Michael Bachelder, Lee Bachelder; great-grandchildren, Rebecca McCoy, James Michael McCoy, Lillian August, Keenan Harvey; sister Lucille Miller, sister in-law Ruth McCardle nieces, Joyce and Susan, nephews Roger and Michael.
Memorials can be directed to First Baptist Church in Clifton's memory.
