Clifford E. Jones age 93 of Rockford and formerly of Belvidere, IL, died early Sunday morning January 29, 2006 in his home after a sudden illness. Clifford was born October 29, 1912 in Harvard, Illinois the son of Thomas and Ellen (Jones) Jones. In high school, Clifford was quite an athlete excelling in all sports. He married Cora Belle Hicks on December 6, 1935 in Belvidere. For 12 years he worked for the Belvidere Grist Mill and then began his life long career in farming. He bought his farm in 1955 and retired in the 1980's. While he farmed he also worked for Knox Motors and for Jones Implement. Clifford was a life long member of First Baptist Church and a member of County Line Grange, Belvidere Masonic Lodge #60, Scottish rite, Tebala Shrine Temple and the Order of the Eastern Star. Clifford was also a member of the Boone County Fair Board.Survivors include his wife Cora Belle of Rockford; children, Nancy K. (Quentin) Bourkland of Camano Island, WA, Ronald C. (Judy) Jones of Neillsville, WI, Edward H. (Jan) Jones of Lebanon, OH, Charles I (Debbie) Jones of Port Lavaca, TX, thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Clifford is predeceased by his parents and six brothers and sisters.
