Rockford, IllinoisClaribel W. McDaniel, 94, of Rockford, Illinois and formerly of Carbondale, Illinois died peacefully, Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in P.A. Peterson after a lingering illness. Claribel was born November 2, 1914 in Geneva, Illinois the daughter of John and Clara (Holsworth) McClanahan. She graduated from DeKalb High School and attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Claribel married Wilbur McDaniel on April 4, 1936 in Madison, WI. Claribel taught weaving for several years at SIU in Carbondale where her husband was a math teacher. She was a well know textile artist in southern Illinois. She was a founding member of the Unitarian Fellowship in Carbondale.She is survived by her daughters, Ann M. McDaniel of Belvidere, IL and Alice C. (Jack) Blount of Rutland, VT. Claribel is predeceased by her parents, husband; sisters, Helen Burkhart, Murial Martin and Carol Richgels.

Memorial can be given in care of Transition Hospice, P.A. Peterson or Carbondale Unitarian Church in her memory.
