Clarence A. Swanson, 97, of Cherry Valley IL, passed away surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, May 6, 2018 in his home. He was born July 30, 1920 in Sycamore, IL the son of Oscar and Anna (Peterson) Swanson. He married the love of his life Frances Worley on August 27, 1944 in Genoa, IL. Clarence was a farmer and a welder by trade, he could truly build or fix anything. He was passionate about working with his hands, taking trips, and spending time with his family. Clarence cherished his time snow birding in Texas with Frances. He made his spiritual home at Maywood Evangelical Free Church in Rockford, IL.

Clarence is loved and will be missed by his wife, Frances; children, Elaine Swanson, Earl (Beverly) Swanson; grandchildren, Matthew (Michele) Swanson, Kelli (Greg) Morrow; great-grandchildren, Emilee, Zachary, Blakelynn, Jake, Kiirstin, Kallista as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and a brother.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2018 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere IL 61008 with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to service. A visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., Thursday May 10, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial in Flora Cemetery. Memorials to the family to establish a memorial later.
