Clarence L. Larson, 89, of Rockford, formerly of Belvidere, died peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2013 in his home. Born February 16, 1924 in Madison, WI; son of Lewis and Hazel (Vogts) Larson. Served in the US Army Air Corps in the European Theatre. Married Lucille Anderson on December 6, 1943 in Belvidere. Worked as a machine tool repairman for White Consolidated Industries, and worked for Sundstrand for 29 years. Member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway Valhall Lodge #168 in Machesney Park, Harmony Singing Society in Rockford, Norwegian Singers Association of America, founding member of the Harmony Seniors, and member of John Hugo Kaiser Post VFW #1461. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed traveling, was a Merry Mixer square dancer, enjoyed wintering in Mission Bell Resort in Texas, and had a passion for genealogy.Survivors include his children Chris (Mary Alice "Sam") Larson of Rockford, Gordon (Anna) Larson of St. Charles, Janice (James) Rush of Poplar Grove, Julie Larson of Chicago; grandchildren Charlie Larson, Sarah (Joseph Stovall) Larson, David, Christine, and Stacey Larson, Jacob (Dorothy) Rush, Julia and Jordyn Rush; great-grandson Nicholas Larson; great-great-granddaughter Annabella; sister Dorothy Halberslaben. Predeceased by his parents, wife Lucille, and daughter Kathryn Babbitt.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church.
