Obituary

Clarence Andrew DuPont, 84, of Belvidere, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, in his home surrounded by his family. Born January 3, 1928 in Rockford, son of Theophil and Madeleine (Verschaete) DuPont. Served in the National Guard and then the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. Married Genevieve Johnson on December 11, 1948 in Belvidere. She died in 2010. Worked as a building maintenance supervisor. Member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Belvidere Masonic Lodge. Clarence enjoyed ornamental iron welding, hunting, fishing, boating, spending time at his cabin up north, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Survivors include his devoted son Doug (Lynne) DuPont of Caledonia, grandchildren Melinda and Dan DuPont, nieces and nephews Mary Jane (Cal) Carpenter, Madeleine (Bob) Shebesta, Martha (Walt) Gregory, Monica Humphreys, Donald (Dee) DuPont, and Walter (Sheryl) DuPont, and special friend Imogene Bye. Predeceased by his parents, wife Genevieve, brother Walter DuPont and sister Clara Zander.

Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church.
