Clara Jean Fassett, 73, of Rockford, died at 9:23 P.M. Monday, August 4, 2008, in Rockford Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born December 9, 1934, in Dunseith, ND, the daughter of Francis and Eliza Desjarlis Baker and married Donald Fassett in Belvidere on December 15, 1957; he died in 1999. Clara was a CNA for the Visiting Nurses Association for 5 years (retiring in 1998) and a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. In addition, she was a lifetime associate member of VFW Post #1461. Survivors include sons Lonnie C. (Judy Bergstadt) Baker, Rockford, and Thomas (Lori Galway) Fassett, Scottsdale, AZ; sisters Larose (Eugene) Laducer, Mary Jane Thuranger, and Lorraine Miller, all of Turtle Mountain Reservation in Dunseith, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. Clara was preceded in death by husband Donald, her parents, and sisters Emma, Mary, Vivian, Jeannette, Sylvia, and Violet.
