Charles M. Rubert, 68, of Rockford, IL and formerly of South Dakota, died peacefully early Thursday morning, November 28, 2013 in Alden- Alma Nelson after a lingering illness. Charles was born February 4, 1945 in Alexandria, South Dakota the son of Robert and Shirley (Sudmeier) Rubert. He married Karen L. (Carpenter) Kurtz on September 25, 1992 in Rockford. Charles was a welder and the co-owner of High Standard Fabricating in Rockford. He enjoyed trap shooting and fishing; and was an avid pool player who belonged to the Pool Players Association and was the part owner of a pool hall.Charles is loved and will be missed by his wife, Karen of Rockford; mother Shirley of South Dakota; step-son Tom (Jenny) Kurtz of Rockford and three step-grandchildren, Matthew, Trevon and Brad; sisters, Sharon (Bob) Brown and June (Bob) Smith both of South Dakota; brother, Jim (Vickie) Rubert of Minnesota and several nieces and nephews; sister in-law Vickie Hyde; brother in-law Bud (Jane) Carpenter . Charles is preceded in death by his father, Robert; brother, Richard and his in-laws Glen and Lorraine Carpenter whom he loved very much.
