Charles L. Huntington, 83, of Belvidere, died Monday, August 7, 2006 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center following complications from Kidney disease. He was born July 2, 1923 in Belvidere, Illinois, the son of Fred Roy and Sophronia Belle (Wixon) Huntington. He married his first wife, Ethel Renz, she died in 1995. He then married Patricia Middleton on July 20, 1996 in Belvidere. Charles was a farmer before being an Auto Mechanic for Burton Motors and Belvidere Motors for many years. Following his retirement, he was responsible for maintenance of equipment and grounds of Bel-Mar Country Club. He is a graduate of Belvidere High School and a two year technical school where he learned auto mechanics. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving two tours of duty. Charles was in charge of Boone County Fair Toys; member of the Boone County Fair Board for forty years; a Master of the Bonus Grange; member of the Collectors Club; member of the Rock Valley SAMS Camping Club; and member of the Scholarship board at St. John's United Church of Christ where he was a longtime member of the church. In his spare time, Charles enjoyed, woodworking, playing his Accordion, toy collecting, model airplanes and photography. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; of Belvidere; six step-children, Julie Bryan; Herb Middleton; Dean Middleton; Denise Haas; Christy Brocato; and Tim Middleton; 22 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren; a brother, Merle Huntington and Geraldine Gorham. Preceded in death by parents, a sister, Wylladene Smith.
