Belvidere, IllinoisCharles J. Freeman, 75, of Belvidere, IL, died Friday morning October 6, 2006 in his home after a lingering illness. Charles was born July 28, 1931 in Bono, Arkansas the son of Charles A. and Josie (Goforth) Freeman. He married JoAnne Smith on September 21, 1957 in Lansing, Illinois. Charles worked for Muller-Pinehurst Dairy for 31 years retiring in 1998. In his retirement he has driven for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Charles graduated from Greene City Tech in Paragould, AR with the class of 1953. He served in the US Army from 1953-1955 being stationed in Europe. He was a lifetime member of John Hugo Kaiser VFW Post 1461, Moose Lodge #295 and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.Survivors include his wife, JoAnne of Belvidere; children, Brenda (Daniel) Huston of Sarver, PA, Timothy (Kelly) Freeman of Loves Park, IL; son-in-law, David J. Tomlin of Belvidere; grandson, Daniel J. Tomlin; step granddaughter, Dana Huston of Sarver, PA; brothers Manuel (Lavera) Freeman of Arizona City, AZ, Johnnie Freeman of Hardy, AR, Stanley (Pam) Freeman of Jonesboro, AR; sisters, Ozella (Kenneth) Rowland of Paragould, AR, Laverne (Lawrence) Dacus of Cherokee Village, AR, Joyce (Jim) Hoffman of Jonesboro, AR. Charles is predeceased by his parents; daughter, Jan Tomlin; brother, Jimmie Freeman.
A memorial will be established in his name with Northern Illinois Hospice 4215 Newburg Rd, Rockford, IL 61108.
