Carolyn (Davies) Miller, 81, of Caledonia, IL passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on February 7, 2024. She was born on October 20, 1942, the daughter of Rose and Herb Davies of Garden Prairie, IL
Carolyn graduated from Belvidere High School, class of 1960. She received a degree in early childhood education from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, class of 1964.
She loved traveling and had wonderful opportunities to do so. She took continuing education courses in Mexico and Hawaii, taught in Harvard, IL, Modesto, California and Nottingham, England in the 60's and then Wauwatosa, WI.
She married Jack Miller of Gosher, Indiana in 1972 and she took a short break from teaching when they started their family. They have 3 daughters Heather, Karli and Beth.
In 1981, Carolyn established the preschool at Willow Creek Presbyterian Church in Argyle, when her daughter, Beth, was 4 years old.
She then went back to full-time teaching and taught in District 100 elementary schools for kindergarten and first grade.
She received a masters in education in the 90's and finished out her career at Caledonia Elementary School.
She loved children and she loved teaching. All of the relationships she had with the students she taught and fellow educators throughout the years were very special to her and she remembered them fondly.
She leaves behind a brother Wynn Davies of Madison, WI, a sister Peggy Fair of Belvidere,IL (now Cape Canaveral, Florida.) 3 daughters, Heather (Tobias Bechtoff) of Chicago, Karli (Matt Rankin) of Poplar Grove, and Elizabeth Monroe of Williams Bay, WI, 8 grandchildren: Megan (Trace Johnson), Abi (Matt Dhamer), Riley, Hailey, Katie, Kylie, Emily, and Will. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren: Finley, Crew, Coen, Kase and Blaine. And many nieces, a nephew, many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews - all of whom were special to her and all of whom she loved very much!
She is welcomed into heaven by her parents and husband.
Carolyn's visitation will be Friday, February 23, between the hours of 4-7pm at Willow Creek Presbyterian Church 7300 Belvidere Rd, Caledonia, IL 61011. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 24th at 11am at Willow Creek Presbyterian Church.
Burial to follow at Scottish Argyle Cemetery.
