Carole (Root) Lee, 77 of Kirkland, IL passed away peacefully, Friday, March 7, 2014 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Carole was born April 18, 1936 in Valley Junction, WI the daughter of Jesse and Lucille (Baldwin) Root. She was a graduate of North Boone High School and married Mr. Marvin (Gerry) Lee in Belvidere on June 9, 1954.
Over the years Carole worked for Green Giant, Poplar Grove School, JC Penny's and the Boone County Fairgrounds. Carole always found time to give back to the community she so dearly loved by being a part of the Ladies Aide of Irene, District 2 Fire Department Women's Auxiliary and was a leader for the Cub
Scouts and 4-H. Carole was a talented seamstress, notably for her wedding dresses, and was proud to have sewn for former Miss America, Judy Ford. Carole also purchased the first bag of flour for donuts made by the District 2 FD at the Boone County Fair.
Carole is loved and will be missed by her husband, Gerry; children, Kerry (Kris) Lee, Tom Lee and Lisa (Rusty) Lindberg; sisters and brother, Barb McDonald, Loretta (Jim) Bates, Joann (Steve) Kush, Roy (Rhonda) Root; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Carole is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lucille Root; son, Craig Lee and great-grandson, Austin Lee.
Carole's family would like to acknowledge the love and care given to Carole by Pat Donahue of O'Brien and Dobbins Pharmacy and also Transitions Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 13, 2014 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services: Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL with Rev. Joe Barefield officiating. Carole will be buried at Flora Cemetery, Kirkland. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
