Carmen "Lilly" Cecilia Caraballo Ayala, 69, of Rockford, formerly of Belvidere, went to be with the Lord on June 22, 2024. She was born on March 23, 1955 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. The daughter of Clisanta Bonilla Mercado and Nelson Caraballo. Lilly was a deeply devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Her friends fondly remember her as the life of every gathering, sharing stories and laughter that lit up the room.
Known for her fierce love for her children, Lilly leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and generosity. Her God-loving soul radiated positivity and uplifted those around her. In her early years she taught Sunday school, and devoted much of her time to faith and sharing the good word of God's love. Lilly was a vibrant soul with a love for music, WWF/WWE wrestling, plants, and bongos. Her unwavering passion for animals and affectionate spirit extended to all of God's creatures. Her home was never without a cat or a dog or both.
Her home was always filled with laughter, homemade meals that delighted the senses, and an atmosphere of love that welcomed all who entered. Lilly's meals were not just food but expressions of her love and care.
Carmen was a homemaker, as well as a CNA for many years. She was deeply dedicated to caring for others. Lilly was a mother figure to many and she loved the children and young people in her life. Her genuine concern for their well-being made her a pillar of strength and support.
Carmen's presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness will continue to inspire generations to come.
Left to cherish her memory includes her mother, Clisanta Bonilla Mercado; Father of her children, Jose A Goytia; children, Charity Goytia, Laiza Goytia - Belofsky, Cecilia Raza, Jose Goytia Jr., and Emmanuel Goytia; son in law, Josh Belofsky; daughter in law, Laura Cabral; granddaughter, Mila Amor; siblings, Clisanta Caraballo Bonilla, Zenaida Caraballo Bonilla, Nelson Caraballo, John Caraballo, and Edwin Caraballo; dear friend, Lori Toscano. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends whom she loved dearly.
She is welcomed into heaven by her father, Nelson Caraballo.
Carmen's visitation will be on Saturday, June 29th between the hours of 4-5:30pm, funeral service to follow at 5:30pm. At Anderson Funeral Home located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. The family would like to invite attendants to continue the fellowship following the funeral service for a celebration of life cocktail hour ending promptly at 8:30pm at Anderson's.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local animal shelter in memory of Carmen and her love for animals.
