Bud was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He attended school in Belvidere and began working for the Belvidere Daily Republican at a young age, starting as a paperboy in 1950 and in 1954 started in production at the paper. Over the years, he learned every aspect of the newspaper business and remained there throughout his career until his retirement. Bud was known for being steady, consistent, hardworking, and dependable.

On May 18, 1959, Bud married the love of his life, Shirley (Carver). Together they shared 66 years of marriage and raised two children.

Bud enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent much of his time outdoors. He  cherished trips to Canada, Wyoming, and especially time at Lake Mills for hunting and fishing adventures. He built lifelong friendships and deeply valued quality time with his family and friends. Bud enjoyed antiquing and woodworking and refinishing old furniture.

Bud will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of hard work, loyalty, and integrity will be cherished and carried on by his family for generations to come.
