Obituary

Bruce Rothermel, 74, of Beloit, WI, died Saturday, July 5, 2025, in his home after battling stage 4 kidney cancer. Born August 3, 1950, in Springfield, IL, the son of George and Wanda (Olds) Rothermel. Bruce was a graduate of Lanphier High School, Class of 1968, and received his Bachelor's in Engineering from Illinois State University in 1972. He married Deborah J (Gesell) on November 25, 1972, in Belvidere. Bruce was a retired UAW member working for the Belvidere Chrysler Assembly plant, before that he worked at Sundstrand. After retirement, Bruce volunteered with Boone County Habitat for Humanity. Bruce was re-married to Mary Pusheck on January 18, 2018, in Ft. Myers, FL. Bruce enjoyed the stock market, Corvettes and the St. Louis Cardinals. Bruce was also an avid cruiser and visited countless islands across the Caribbean as well as multiple European cruises. While retiring in Florida, he enjoyed the warmer weather and being closer to the ports, making multiple cruises a year possible. Bruce was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father, and Grampa and he will be greatly missed.  Survived by his wife, Mary Pusheck of Beliot; daughter, Amanda J. Richardson of Belvidere; Grandchildren, Quinn Rothermel, Seth Richardson and Keeley Richardson; siblings, Nancy Ulakey, Julie (Jeff Strocher) Crawford, and Gregg (Ji) Rothermel; nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats, Teddy and Sophie.
Predeceased by his father and mother; wife, Deborah and brother-in-law, John Ulakey.
In lieu of gifts the family is asking for donations in his name to Boone County Habitat for Humanity. Private family service and burial at Belvidere Cemetery.
