Brad A. Salley, 75, of Belvidere, IL passed away, Friday, December 17, 2021 in Rockford, IL. Brad was born November 15, 1946 in Belvidere, IL the son of Robert G. and Dorothy M. (Marshallsay) Salley. Brad married the love of his life, Judy Walley on January 28, 1967 in Belvidere, IL. Brad was a proud graduate of Belvidere High School in 1964 and would go on to complete his Bachelors and Masters degree from Illinois State University. Brad would work alongside his father and later in life with his son with Salley Building Company. Most notably, Brad blessed our community with his gift of teaching for over 52 years. During his tenure, he taught Spanish at Belvidere High School, Christian Life, Hiawatha and Immanuel Lutheran. Brad's passion for sports led him to umpire and referee for over 50 years. This love would lead him to umpire and referee college games, local games and Illinois high school state games. Brad also was honored to be inducted into the Illinois Umpires Hall of Fame. Brad loved his Green Bay Packers. He was proud of his time coaching with Belvidere Youth Baseball and as a farm league coach with Rob and Cory. Brad's passion and love for his savior led him and Dr. Oliver to start the Belvidere Chapter of The Gideons. Brad loved his community, but most importantly his family. He will be missed by all.
Brad is loved and missed by his wife, Judy; daughter, Rhonda (Cory) Osterberg; daughter-in-law, Amber Salley; grandchildren, Ryan, Emma, Brandon, Lindsay, Ian; siblings, Rowland (Leta) Salley and Rita (Robert) Salley. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Robert Salley.
The visitation for Brad will take place from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the funeral home with a visitation from 9:30 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories.
