Obituary

Brad Larson passed away suddenly at home on Monday, May 15 from an apparent heart attack. He was born in Belvidere, IL to William and Mary Larson. He graduated from Belvidere High School with the Class of 1974. Brad worked for a few years at Knox Trucking on the dock, before joining Anderson Roofing Company. When he was 21, he invested in land in Tucson, AZ which he sold in 2007. He then retired at age 48 just like he had planned.

Brad married the love of his life, Brenda Larson, on September 6, 1990 after they had lived together for 11 years. He raised his step-son Travis from the age of 2 ½ years. They kept busy supporting all Travis' sporting events as he went through school, and Brad was so proud of all his accomplishments. As Travis became an adult, Brad always said he was so proud of the man he became. Travis blessed him with 2 grandchildren which he was very involved with, and loved them dearly.

Brenda and Brad had many friends and they enjoyed life canoeing, camping, attending rock concerts, and hosting many house parties for their friends. Later in life he loved spending time at Travis' house, riding his side-by-side in the woods along the Kishwaukee River and sitting on his beach listening to music with Brenda, Travis and anyone from the neighborhood who would join him. He loved a good belly laugh and got that frequently with Brenda and his many friends. Anyone who knew him enjoyed his loud, opinionated personality.

Brad loved to travel. He purchased a timeshare in Cancun, Mexico and he and Brenda spent 2 weeks there each year for 23 years making the best memories. Brad loved his Chicago Bears and Cubs, and recently became an IndyCar race fan.

He was very much loved and will be missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; step-son, Travis Akers; grandchildren, Chase and Kaylee Akers; sister, Diane Bunnell (Don Rydzewski); brothers, Roger (Kathy) Larson, Curt (Cris) Larson; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; and grandparents.

Brad's memorial service will be July 1st at 12pm to 12:15pm at the VFW Post 1461, 1310 W. Lincoln Ave., Belvidere, IL. Celebration of life to continue until 3pm.
