Billy Horner, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on April 20, 1933, in Greenville, Tennessee, to Rosie (Britt) Horner and George Horner.
In 1963, Billy married the love of his life, Amelia. Together, they shared 25 years of happiness, raising two sons and creating a home filled with love and laughter. After Amelia's passing in 1988, Billy continued to be a devoted father to his sons, imparting the values of hard work, dedication, and kindness.
Billy was known for his strong work ethic, always taking pride in his labor and giving his best to everything he did. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for working in the yard. He also had a soft spot for animals, especially birds and cats, who brought him comfort and companionship throughout his life.
A lover of community, Billy enjoyed attending county fairs and looked forward to the yearly gatherings that brought people together. He enjoyed cooking and hosting large family gatherings where food, laughter, and love were shared freely.
Billy's legacy will live on through his 2 sons; Timmy Horner and Tommy Horner; his 3 grandchildren, Timothy Horner, Marla Strobach, and Renee Horner; his 8 great grandchildren; his 1 great-great grandchild; his siblings, Charles Horner, Mary Blazer, Ann Rush, Doris Darnell; as well as countless friends and loved ones who were touched by his warmth, kindness, and generosity. He was a steadfast pillar in his family and will be deeply missed.
Billy is welcomed into Heaven by his wife Amelia Horner; his parents George W. and Rosie Horner; his brothers, Harold Horner, Raymond Horner, William Horner, Kyle Horner, Jay Horner; and his sisters, Velma Swatzell, Brenda McAmis, and Helen Yount.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 10am, funeral service to follow at 11am at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. With a burial to follow at Highland Garden of Memories.
