Billie H. Smith, 73, of Belvidere, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 in his home following a Lengthy illness. Born September 1, 1934 in Corbin, Ky, the son of Otis and Ruby (Lawson) Smith. He has lived in Belvidere for the past 42 years. He married Nilon June Brown in LaGrange, Ind. on January 26, 1957. He was employed as a repairman for the Chrysler Corporation for 41 years, retiring in 1994. Member of UAW local 1268. He was a avid Chicago Cubs, Bears and NASCAR fan. He is survived by his wife, June, of Belvidere; a son, Ricky (Luann) Smith, Cherry Valley, Ill.; 3 grandchildren, Melissa Smith, Tina Smith, Kim Brown; 2 step-grandchildren, Amy Weber, Jeremy Richardson; 6 great-grandchildren, Alexis; Maddlyn, Jolynn, Brody, Sheridan, Hannah; 2 sisters, Louise (Louie) Roberts, OH; Lucille (Charles) Lackey, AL; a Mother-in-law, Elnora Hackerd; 2 brother-in-laws, Jerry Kobold, OH; Jim (Barbara) Brown, IL. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Debra Thorne and Sandra Smith; his parents; 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
