Schoonover

Beverly J. Schoonover, 88, of Belvidere, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. She was born on October 4, 1937, in Richland Center, Wisconsin, the daughter of Albert and Gladys (Donner) Ghastin.
Beverly was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. On September 6, 1958, she married the love of her life, Stanley Schoonover. Together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage and raised two sons. Their life together was built on faith, family, and a spirit of adventure. In their later years, they especially enjoyed spending winters together as snowbirds in Arizona.
A longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Belvidere, Beverly was active in the church's Sunshine Circle, where she formed many cherished friendships over the years.
Beverly dedicated 22 years to working as a library clerk with the Belvidere School District. She worked at Kishwaukee Grade School in Garden Prairie and Logan School in Belvidere, where she loved encouraging children's curiosity and learning through books.
In her free time, Beverly enjoyed the outdoors and took great pride in tending to her beautiful flower garden. She was also talented at sewing and loved expressing her creativity through her craft.
Beverly will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
She is survived by sons, Bryan and Bruce (Pamela) Schoonover; grandchildren, Angela (Richard) Howell, Crystal Murphy, Joshua (Allison) Montgomery; ten great-grandchildren, Skylar, Emma, Ethan, Keeley, Fallyn, Madlyn, Dominic, Liam, Makenzie, and Violet. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Willis, Judy Schlafer, and Linda Treu.
Beverly is welcomed into heaven by her husband, Stanley Schoonover, and her parents, Albert and Gladys Ghastin.
Her visitation will be Friday, March 13 at 10am at Belvidere First United Methodist Church. Located at 610 Bonus Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral Service to follow at 11am. Burial will be at Belvidere Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Belvidere First United Methodist Church in her memory.
