Beverly Jean Koppen, 88, of Belvidere IL, passed away November 17, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson's. She was a deeply devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was born on November 2, 1934 in Verona, Illinois to Vera and Ivan West. Bev graduated from Belvidere High School class of 1952. She was raised in a family with 10 siblings. She had a strong work ethic and a dedication to her community. She worked at Parson's Casket Hardware, Columbus Foundries, and the Boone County Administrator's office between the years of 1994-2013 until her retirement. She was recognized as Woman in the Workforce in 1998. Bev was also a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church. She will be missed by many.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Lori (Steve) Hilden; granddaughter, Stephanie (Sean) Rizzio; her siblings, Gene (Donna) West, Sandy Fidder, Diane Wachlin, Judy Gough, Bill (Sally) West, and Candy Rogers; brother-in-law, Ron Seelhoff; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, whom she loved dearly.
She is predeceased by her husband, Bernell Koppen; her parents, Vera and Ivan West; siblings, Elsie Mae McGrady, J. Ellen Seelhoff, Gerald West and Ronald West; as well as her brother-in-laws, Dave Fidder and Jim Gough.
A visitation for Beverly will be Wednesday, November 23, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Located at 610 Bonus Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. A funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Burial at Highland Garden of Memories.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Abbie with St. Croix Hospice for the care she provided for Bev.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to establish a memorial to Parkinson's disease organizations.
