Belvidere, IllinoisBetty J. Johnson, 85, of Belvidere, IL, died Saturday evening, March 8, 2008 in Northwoods Care Center after a lingering illness. Betty was born October 19, 1922 in Belvidere, Il the daughter of John and Lillian (Wilcox) Vowles. She attended Belvidere Schools. Betty married Arthur L. Johnson on March 31, 1944 in Belvidere. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She worked for Sanitary Scale, was a member of the Boone County Fire District #2 Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose. She had a love for music. She loved to sing and could play any piece she heard on the radio by ear on the piano. She once sang "Me, Myself and I" on the radio.Survivors include her children, Sharon (Jim Fisk) Fowler, Melvin (Walita) Johnson and Mickey Johnson all of Belvidere; grandchildren, David (Sherri) Fowler, Melita and Melody Johnson; great grandchildren, Doug (Sarah), Megan, Joshua, Brandon; great-great granddaughters Haleigh and Abigail; brothers in-law Reynold (Marion) Johnson; sister in-law Alice Johnson; several cousins, nieces and nephews.Betty is predeceased by her parents, husband Arthur on May 11, 2004; sister, Eunice Lee and brother, Maynard Vowles.
