Poplar Grove, IllinoisBetty Edwards, 83, of Poplar Grove, IL died peacefully early Tuesday morning, August 6, 2013, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born July 2, 1930 in Galesburg, IL the daughter of Harold and Mary (Gumm) Behringer. Betty attended the University of Illinois where she met her husband of 61 years, Robert M. Edwards. The two were married on June 8, 1952 in Altona, IL. Betty was a proud Illinois Alumna, and a member of the Ladies Home Bureau and the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. Betty's passion in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a nurturing grandmother. In 1964, Betty and her husband, Bob, founded Edwards Apple Orchard in Poplar Grove, Illinois. Betty is loved and will be missed by her husband, Bob; children, Barb (Ken) Hall, Robb (Becky) Edwards, Mary (Larry) Smith, Mike (Lynn) Edwards, Suzi (Konrad) Parris; fifteen Grandchildren; eight Great-Grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Al) Paulus; brother, Charles (Dotie) Behringer; nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bud (Beulah) Behringer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in Betty's name to the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church or the North Boone Education Foundation.
