Barbara A. Martenson, 53, of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, December 22, 2017 at PA Peterson after a long illness. She was born July 16, 1964 in Harvard, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Janice (Smith) Kreger. Barb worked for the Boone County Sheriff's Office and Belvidere Police Department for 20+ years as a dispatcher, and most recently for the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department. She loved helping people and planning events. Most of all, she had a passion for going to the beach and listening to the waves.

Barb is loved and missed by her son, Matthew (Juliana Dal Pra) Martenson, step-son, Josh (Tiffany Pastor) Martenson; her father, Ernest Kreger; grandchildren, Maks and Emma Martenson; sister, Kelly (Frank) Paulson; niece, Gabby Paulson; aunt, Cindy Smith, cousin, Judy Doty, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Janice, maternal grandparents, Bernice and Charles Smith, paternal grandparents, Clifford and Marie Kreger, Sr., Aunt Beverly Doty and uncle, Charles "Woody" Smith; and her fur child, Parker.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL, 61008. A visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m., until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department.
