Belvidere, IllinoisBarbara J. Grimes, 81, of Belvidere, IL died peacefully Sunday morning, December 14, 2008 in Northwoods Care Center after a lingering illness. Barbara was born June 8, 1927 in Boone County, Il the daughter of Reuben and Margaret (Haines) Widell. Barbara was a life long area resident and graduated from Belvidere high School. She worked for Barber-Coleman Co. for twenty-two years, retiring in 1989. Barbara married Robert W. Grimes on June 1, 1947 in Belvidere. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday school teacher, belonged to the Ada Stearns Fellowship and was a former assistant financial secretary. Barbara also loved to knit, embroider, crochet and travel.Survivors include her husband, Robert of Belvidere; daughters, Linda Hahn of Poplar Grove and Christine (Gary) Cottrell of Davis, Illinois; four grandchildren, Nathan (Dawn) Hahn, Melanie (Aaron) Dawkins, Mike Cottrell, Michelle Cottrell; great grandchildren, Karolyn, Karmyn, Kaylee, Cody, Daniel, Matthew; sister, Alice Johnson of Belvidere; nieces and nephews.Barbara is predeceased by her parents.
