Avis M. Eichelberger, 95, of Rockford, formerly of Capron, Illinois, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 in Provena Cor Mariae Care Center following a short illness. She was born on September 7, 1915 in Garden Prairie, Illinois; the daughter of Fred and Mamie (Peacock) Reid. Avis married John Eichelberger in Harvard, Illinois on June 6, 1943. She and her husband John owned a confectionary store for many years. Avis was a longtime member of Capron United Methodist Church and member of the Elder Berries group. She is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents, her husband John and John's half-sister, Carol Ettenhoffer.
