Belvidere, ILAudrey E. Friend, 81, of Belvidere, IL died peacefully, Friday, December 21, 2012 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a short illness. Audrey was born November 8, 1931 in Belvidere, IL the daughter of Charles E. and Mabel (Koltz) Renz. She married Elmer E. Friend on March 4, 1956 in Belvidere. When Audrey was little, she helped her father on Sunday's by serving ice cream sundaes at Smith & Renz Pool Hall; she was the office manager for Central Rubber, then moved on to the Boone County Conservation District retiring as the director; and recently retired from Machine Shed. Audrey also served as an organist for numerous churches for 47 years. She was a member of the Boone County Gardeners of America and the Order of the Eastern Star. Audrey is loved and will be missed by her husband Elmer; children Kevin E. (Kimberly) Friend of Belvidere. Tracy (Van) Carpenter of Loves Park; grandchildren Kristopher Friend, Korbin Friend, Blake Klinefelter, Zander Carpenter, Kayla Carpenter; great-grandson Connor Simpson; and Baby Halo; numerous nieces and nephews.
