Arthur W. Rubert, 81, of Belvidere, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 in Swedish-American Hospital following a lingering illness. He was born October 30, 1926 in Belvidere, the son of Edwin E. and Esther C. (Swanson) Rubert. He was married to Frances D. Brunschon in Belvidere on July 22, 1967. He was a professional Truck Driver for Keene Canning Co. prior to entering the Army. He then drove for Spector Freight Co. 33 years, then for Berg Industries for 14 years. He then delivered auto parts for NAPA before retiring in 2002. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army. He was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church. When Art was confirmed, the great Billy Graham was the speaker. Rev. Graham often visited Belvidere while he was a Wheaton College. Art was also a member of the Teamsters, local #325 and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. John Hugo Kaiser Belvidere Post #1461. He attended Belvidere area schools. He is survived by his wife, "Fran" of Belvidere; two stepsons, William (Kitty) Brunschon, Machesney Park, Ill.; Raymond Brunschon, Belvidere; two grandchildren, Robert (Dawn) Brunschon and Jennifer (fiancé Joe Campbell) Schmidt; six great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Shirley Rubert and brother-in-law, Eldon Stenerson. Art is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Vivian (Sid) Hulstedt ; Doris Stenerson and brother, Carl Rubert.
