Obituary

Arthur C. Nightingale, 92, entered into eternal rest on March 7, 2014 after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 16, 1921 in Glenview, IL. Art was the son of William C. and Mary (Pauling) Nightingale. He spent his youth on a farm in Mount Prospect. Art was a graduate of Arlington Heights High School, Class of 1939, and Marion Township Junior College in 1941. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force Transport Command. On December 11, 1948, he married Lorna C. (Meyer) Nightingale. Art farmed for many years in Arlington Heights and Marengo. He and Lorna moved to Belvidere in 1970. He was employed in sales for Allied Farm Equipment in Belvidere. Art had many hobbies, especially his love for flowers and winning the Belvidere Garden Club award of the month several times. He also had a great love for flying, earning his private pilot license with instrument ratings and enjoyed visiting scenic U.S. places.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Lorna of Belvidere, sisters; Florence Kehe of Evergreen, CO, and Irene (Richard) McGlynn of Rockford; brother-in-law, Kurt Meyer of Arlington Heights, IL; 14 fond nieces and nephews; many relatives and friends.
