Obituary

Arlene Leonard age 89 of Belvidere, Illinois died early Saturday morning, November 5, 2005 in her home after a lingering illness. She was the daughter of Theodore and Caroline (Edwards) Schwebke. Arlene was born August 22, 1916, graduated from Belvidere High School in 1935 and married Rollin Leonard on May 15, 1937. She was a life long Boone County resident. Over the years, she worked as a bookkeeper for Leonard Welding Shop and then for Belvidere National Bank for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. Arlene was a member of First United Methodist Church and Joyful Faith Circle. She was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was an avid bridge player and loved country music.Survivors include her daughters, Carol (Max) Newport of Belvidere, Sharon (Jay) Corey of Rockford; granddaughters, Michelle (Jack) Clark of Belvidere, Angela (Stuart) Bahling of Belvidere, Jennifer Hughes of Minneapolis; grandsons, Curt (Becky) Newport of Belvidere, Scott (Victoria) Newport of DeKalb and Rick (Meredith) Hughes of Rockford; great-grandchildren, Max and Colton Bahling, Morgan, Torrie, Joseph and Riley Newport, Hunter and Dylan Hughes, Jackson and Madison Clark; sister, Marilyn (Boyd) Johnson of Rockford; brother, Ronald Schwebke of Belvidere, nieces and nephews; caregiver, Larysa Kravchenko.Arlene is predeceased by her parents, husband, Rollin on July 10, 1960, sisters, Viona Fidder and Lucille Taylor; brothers, Melvin and Warren Schwebke.

In lieu of flowers memorial can be given to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund in her name.
