Obituary

Arden H. Carlson, 88, of Rockford, IL passed away on
December 26, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 17,
1931 in Sycamore, IL to Henry and Pearl (Welander) Carlson. He married his
loving wife of 63 years, Joyce Miller, on January 28, 1956 in Sycamore, IL.
After graduating high school, Arden enlisted in the United States Air Force and
faithfully served our country during the Korean War. He was stationed in
Newfoundland and the Resolution Island during that time. After his military career,
he began working for IBM as a customer engineer. He worked there for 36 years.

Arden was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in
Rockford, IL for over 60 years. And he served on many elected committees and
appointed offices at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Arden was even involved in the
remodeling of the church. He was a member of the 4-H club and he loved
woodworking and traveling. He enjoyed exploring his ancestry and created family
trees for the Carlson's and Millers.

Arden will be dearly missed by his wife, Joyce; his children, Susan (Jack) Tuggle and Ron (Cyndi) Carlson; his brother and sister, Elvin Carlson of Memphis, TN and Carolyn Burns of Traverse City, MI; his grandson, Josh (Kasey Easton) Tuggle; and his many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents;
his sister, Shirlene; sister-in-law, Beverly Carlson; brother-in-law, Lowell
Burns; and his aunts and uncles.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Fairhaven Christian Retirement center, 3rd floor health center staff for their kind and loving care.

The visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on
Friday, January 3, 2020 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 2001 N Alpine Rd,
Rockford, IL 61107. The funeral ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday,
January 3, 2020 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. The burial will take place at
Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions in Arden's name may be gifted
